ILLNESS
Please keep a child home when ill, as communicable disease spreads rapidly in school. Washing hands with soap, wearing suitable clothing for the weather, eating healthy foods, minimizing sugar intake, taking vitamins, and getting sufficient rest are helpful in preventing illness. “Illnesses” include coughing, fever, running nose, sore throat, rash, vomiting, or diarrhea. Children with fever or who have been vomiting should not be sent to school. Children need to be free of fever 24 hours before returning to school. When a student has a communicable disease, a release from the health department or physician is necessary for re-admittance to school. When a student becomes ill at school he/she will be made comfortable, parents will be notified and required to take the child home. Please make arrangements to have your ill child picked up from school within thirty minutes of notification from the school. The school will administer first aid as needed and parents will be notified of more serious injuries.
ALLERGIES/MEDICAL CONDITIONS
If the student has a medical condition or allergy that the school should be aware of, it should be noted on application.
MEDICINE
Prescribed medication will be administered to the student with authorization from the parent. One-day’s dosage of non-prescribed medicines, such as Tylenol, may be sent to the school for administration with parental permission. A medicine form must be filled out for each medicine and a copy of the directions for administering should be attached. Medication must remain in the original, marked container, and must be left in the office. Staff at Community Christian School cannot be held responsible for any possible side effects or accidents pertaining to these medicines.
LICE
Community Christian School conducts random lice checks. If your child is found to have lice, parents are expected to take necessary measures to get rid of the lice. Ponytails are recommended for those with long hair during a lice outbreak. If you find lice on your child at home, please notify the school so that the other students can be checked.
INSURANCE
A group accidental insurance policy for students injured at school or other school functions such as field trips, etc., is provided for medical coverage.
